Many beautiful and historically significant buildings have been saved by ICC's building relocation expertise.
ICC's building relocation projects include a Cape Cod home in danger due to erosion of the cliff behind; the 2,700 ton Gem Theater and Century Club in Detroit which was moved 1,850 feet and rotated along the way; the 2,900 ton Shubert Theater in Minneapolis during a harsh Minnesota winter; the 5,000 ton 208' tall Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.
The building relocation method typically involves the installation of move-steel including double main beams, cross steel, rocker beams and needle beams; trusses for stabilization; hydraulic jacks; and dollies or roll beams and rollers. Each project is unique and the move plan is custom-designed in each case.
