ICC's special interest in historical structures has led to involvement in the preservation of memorials and monument repair.
The 1854 marble Pulaski monument in the downtown historic district of Savannah, GA, was disassembled, cleaned, repaired and reassembled. A custom-fabricated steel frame facilitated the process, keeping the pieces stable and protected while in transit and in storage. Buffalo's Forest Lawn Cemetery has benefited from the attention of ICC's monument repair department, the most recent in a series of projects being repairs to the statue of Red Jacket. Close attention is paid to authenticity when repairing or replacing elements of the monuments, making it necessary to find materials as close as possible to those originally used.
The nature of the material dictates which cleaning or restoration process is employed for optimum results.
