Rochester Gas & Electric Chimney Artwork, NY
DESCRIPTION:
Apply hand-painted signage on a 250' chimney

LOCATION:
Rochester, New York

SUMMARY:
International Chimney was faced with the challenge of applying detailed artwork on a 250' high by 17'-10" top outside diameter chimney.

Taking into account the fact that the International Chimney field personnel applying the sign would be our standard chimney crew - very adept at rigging and accessing the chimney, but not artists - we developed a “fool proof” method to apply the artwork. Using AutoCAD, the 18'x30' sign was first carefully laid out in International Chimney’s engineering department, duplicating the customer’s artwork. Layout took into consideration the slightly conical shape of the chimney which is larger in diameter at the bottom than at the top. Having laid out the sign to scale, a simple effective method was devised to transfer this layout to the chimney itself, and the painting was completed by hand.
